What is Ragging?
Definition as per UGC / AICTE Regulations
- Any conduct, by words spoken or written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which cause or are likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm to any student.
- Asking students to do any act that causes shame, embarrassment, or that adversely affects their physique or psyche.
- Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure imposed on a junior student by a senior student.
- Any act of physical abuse including sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene acts, or similar activities.
- Any act of harm or injury, whether physical or psychological, caused to any student by another student.
Punishment for Ragging
As prescribed by AICTE and Hon'ble Supreme Court of India

| Level 4 | Causing death or abetment of suicide | Expulsion + FIR under IPC + imprisonment up to 10 years |

Every student is entitled to these rights at Advent College
- Right to study in a safe and ragging-free environment at all times.
- Right to report ragging anonymously without fear of victimization.
- Right to receive prompt institutional action on any ragging complaint.
- Right to confidentiality — identity of complainant shall be kept secret.
- Right to seek redressal from Anti-Ragging Committee at any time.
- Right to fair and time-bound inquiry proceedings as per AICTE norms.
